My guess is the principal is a Watcher.

Don'tcha hate it when you buy a bag of instant burritos only to discover that all the burritos are frozen against each other, fused together into a sort of burritobrick that you have to slam repeatedly against the counter, hoping not to shatter the rest of the lot before one finally pops loose? I hate that.

Been playing MechAssault on Xbox Live. Fun enough game, the whole voice communication/trashtalking aspect of Live really adds to the experience. While the interface and community aspects of Live itself could use a lot of work(especially the clunky friends list, organizing games, and so on), the core of the service is great, and that's really what we're there for anyway.

Sweet baby Jesus, SomaFm is back on the air.

Just got back from Comdex. You didn't miss anything. Well ok, the Olympus booth was huge, and their presentation was impressive. I'm seriously considering the C-5050 as my next camera.

A friend of mine taught my bird to say 'redrum' last week, and now she mixes it in with everything she says.
"Redrum! Redrumred! Gimme a kiss. Redrum!"

Kind of creepy and funny at the same time.

So I was watching MuffinFilms, which led to questions.

He lives here.

Originally eaten by the "downstairs" servants in England's Victorian society, the English muffin surfaced and rose to prominence in Great Britain when members of all classes of society became aware of its goodness. [1]

Quick bread muffins really need to be baked in molds because they are made with a batter rather than a dough. So, what it really comes down to is... who invented the muffin pan? [2]

Muffins in America are 'quick breads' that is, made with no yeast, but leavened with egg and baking powder. English muffins are about 3 inches round and 1 inch high, yeast raised (basically a bread dough) and baked on a griddle. [3]

The blueberry muffin is the official muffin of the state of Minnesota. [4]

When the Jefferson Memorial was finished, it was ridiculed as "Jefferson's muffin." [5, hey wow it does look like a muffin]

Dont forget, the Leonid meteor storm peaks early Tuesday morning. According to estimates for the Vegas area, showtime should be between two and four am, so pack up your friends and warm things around midnight and get as far away from the city as you can. We'll most likely watch from Bonelli Landing, out by the lake.

In spite of the full moon, and with a meteor rate expected to meet or exceed the phenomenal levels of last year, it's supposed to be a hell of a show.

I picked the rest of the pomegranates from the tree, leaving a half dozen or so for the outside birds. The next day the leaves of the tree began to yellow and fall off. I thought I'd killed it.

I believe, during the past week, I've informed pretty much everyone I know of an interesting fact, save you, dear reader. Did you know that the pomegranate is a berry?

I need a new obsession.

Lately I've been more intake and less output. Thoughts form, smoulder, fold up into themselves and disappear. I've been reading a lot. It's nice, at times, to let others do the thinking.

I've rediscovered the library.

Read Gaiman's Neverwhere last week, started and stopped a potentially but in the end not interesting book called Happiness(written by Will Ferguson... imagine trying to write like Robbins or Adams, but with the wit of neither), and now I'm reading American Gods, also by Gaiman. Neil Gaiman good.

I've rediscovered tapioca.

But you already knew that.

I've rediscovered unemployment.

Fortunately, I've got side jobs coming in. Hoping to be back to the daily grind soon as I really don't dig the inconsistency of freelance(although one upcoming project may be spanning several months). Of course, if that happens I'll be slammed for a month or so, but hell, slammed and rent paid sure beats nothing and broke.
Unfortunately, Vegas has never been what you'd call a mecca for design work, so we'll see what comes up.

Wow, someone from Seychelles visited this page. Until this week, I didn't even know there was a Seychelles.

  • Seychelles is located in the Indian Ocean.
  • The national anthem of Seychelles can be heard here.
  • The Coco de mer(double coconut) is a palm tree found only on the Seychelles Islands. The coco de mer fruit has 2 lobes and looks like 2 coconuts joined together. The fruit takes 10 years to mature, and can weigh up to 50 pounds, making it one of the largest fruits in the plant kingdom. The shells were found floating in the ocean long before anyone knew where they came from, and they were thought to have magical properties.
  • Seychelles has one internet service provider.
  • The climate of Seychelles is of the warm, humid tropical type with a strong maritime influence.
  • An Aldabra tortoise, Geochelone gigantea, living on Bird Island in the Seychelles, is thought to be the world's largest free-roaming tortoise, weighing in at a hefty 305 kilograms (672 pounds).
  • Seychelles' basic foreign policy is that of "positive nonalignment."
  • Seychelles is pronounced like this. She sells sea shells in Seychelles.
