Nice fishies! I especially love that second picture. Have you ever snuck some guppies into the tank? They'll disappear overnight with that Knife fish around.

I was wondering if any of you have ever seen a gold colord knife fish. I have searched every where on the internet but had no luck finding anything resmbling the clown knife i have know. It looks exactly like the regular clown knife with spots but this "gold" one was 3 dollars extra. Is this a simple color variation. There were about 10 gold clown knifes in the tank. i have a clown knife it is about 20" long and i have had him for 2 years. I feed him a dozen gold fish a week and he seems to be happy....I was just wondering if that was too much or too littel?

How come my Clown Knife is growing so much faster then my Brown knife?

The brown knife is a little bit diiferent of a fish than the clown. While your clown may get up to 3-4 ft long with the right condithions, the brown will never get to be more than a foot at the most.

I had a royal clownknife for 11 years until he passed away. He was the most beautiful and tame fish a person could have. He was so tame that he would allow me to pet him. He would make his displeasure known if I didn't give him attention. Talk about an appetite. He ate at least a dozen goldfish daily and when he died he was 26 inches in length.

Wow that is an old knife, and a huge one at that! How big of a tank did you have him in? I have an all gold knife and he is in a 75gal tank and is about 14" in length. He eats feeder goldfish, and minnows, but i want to try to have him eat something else? But what!?! We have two Knives 1 is a Clown knife that is nearly 14" long and a Gold colored Clown knife that is every bit of 18" long. They are beautiful, graceful, powerful, and are like children to us. Suprisingly enough they peacefully co-habitate in 75Gal with a small Jack Dempsey, Large Convict, and Large Fan Tail Goldfish. This was not a planned family, we had our other large aquarium to bust out on us. However they have gotten along fine for nearly 6 months.

- I too would like to know if there is a way to determine the sex of the fish. I seriously doubt that there is though, I have never even seen anything that looks like it may be where they would poop from.

my clown knife has a small tube comming out just before the big fin part starts and one day i saw it was pushing out littel clear balls, there where lots of them on a log in the tank...i think they where eggs!!

i was thinking about buying a clown knife but i have african ciclids can they go with each other? i was also thinking about getting a 4 inch one.

yo i was wondering i am only 14 years old and kinda short on cash and only have enough to buy a 30 gal do you guys think the clown knife will get at least 7 inches in that tank with five other ciclids.

With a 35 gal tank, I would not introduce any more fish than what you've already got in there... I don't know how large yours are right now, but the ciclids can grow big enough to eventually outgrow that tank themselves.

yea, i have a clown knife in a 150gallon tank by him self because he will kill any thing that i put in there he is about a good 2 feet i think...

i just brought two 5 inch clowns and i tried to feed em krill but wont even look at it i even turned off the lights and tried it on a feeding stick what should i do? the fish store said go with guppies but i hear they carry ich they say ghostshrimp hardly carry it but i am to scared to try it what should i do go with guppies or ghostshrimp.

Wow i think i have the strangest Clown knife here.
He eats Chiclid pelets, algea wafers, and anything living that will fit in his mouth. He is about 18" in a 120 tall. When i first got him he was 3" maybe. I used a long clear plastic tube with a cut out at the bottom to feed him frozen foods at first then he started to eat the gold fish pellets. so it seemed natural.

I bought a 4" Clown Knife 7 years ago. Now it is 26", still in a 35 gal. tank. I feel to guilty to let him go but too cheap to upgrade tank, how long will he live?

I have a rather alrge clown knife a little over a foot. It is very aggressive and active day anbd night. I recently came across some interesting species of clown knife. They are virtually identical to clown knifes such as the one pictured above, but have vertical black and white stripes running across their bodies that come to a pointat the bottom fin. I'm not sure what they are, but I have two vey small ones. Their behavior is similar as well. Any ideas as to what they are?

I bought a royal clown 7" long about 1 week ago, he ate all the fishes in the thank, now is the only one but he dont want to eat anything except life food. What can I do? I heard that's no good for him. how I can feed him???????

I have a clown knife that has been overfed. He is grotesequely bloated. I have added salt to the water, and as of today, he hasn't eaten anything in a month. However, the bloating is not going down. Has anyone ever seen this? Does anyone know what to do?
