Your search for "giant go stones" did not match any documents.
So I found a house to rent. Three bedrooms, tiled/wooden floors, nice lil pool, and a plant garden foyer sort of thing in the front. A lot of personality in this place. Driving up to the house, it looks like one giant tree surrounded by a wooden fence. I'll be moving in with a friend this week.
In this house there is a third bedroom. In this bedroom the floor is a wooden checkboard grid. This wooden checkerboard grid is large enough to be used as a 9x9 Go board. Now I've got to figure out what to use as stones for the game. Black and white plastic plates might work, if I could find a few stacks for cheap. Or tortoises, if they'd stand still. Dilemma.
For this post, I had to look up the spelling of 'dilemma' twice. It still doesn't look right.

Posted by: Chris on September 15, 2002 11:25 PMWhoa, before I opened up this page of comments, I had to go look up the word "dilemma" because I could have sworn it was spelled "dilemna". In fact, 17,800 web pages agree with that alternative spelling, but dictionary.com and m-w.com say it's not a word. So I was quite surprised when I opened up the comments to see you also had some issues with that word. For me, synchronistically, this issue began earlier today when I was studying some notes for a computer science class. In my notes there was a lemma to a proof, and I didn't quite understand the lemma so jokingly I added a "di" to the beginning of that word, and thought "well it's actually 'dilemna' but this is close enough to get the point across" and moved on. It turns out these words are related. But where did I (and 17,800 others) get "dilemna" from? Perhaps a similar word that uses that "-mna" spelling that we are getting confused with?
Oh, and the image of giant go stones covering a bedroom floor is hilarious. I love anything that belongs in Giant Land.
