The Republic of Flummox is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 8 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 28%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Furniture Restoration.

The nation is ravaged by daily union strikes. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Flummox's national animal is the rook, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the token.

When the site becomes available again, I am going to start Lennytopia. It will be a police state with an insurmountable military and few freedoms. I hope it will border the Republic of Flummox. And if even one of those smart little hippies gets too close to my Cultural Retention Wall/Border, they're going to be re-educated with about 450 grains of lead...

Heh. Thankfully, I did beef up my military/police yesterday in the brief period I was actually able to access the site.

Unfortunately, one of the negatives of the game is that you can't actually wage war on each other, but I suppose that prevents it from turning into a text version of warcraft or something..

There's another state simulator out there called SimCounty, but I havent had a chance to check it out yet..

If we get a few of us playing NationStates, we'll have to start up our own region.
